lol, It's never felt like the right time and we were young (still young at 23!) but today was our 7th anniversary so it felt right, wedding is a few years off still gotta save up first.

Congrats! I know you guys want to savor the engagement for a bit before the wedding planning starts so as someone who is in the middle of wedding planning here is my 2 cents: if it's in the budget, hire a wedding planner as the very first thing you do. the more they can/will do for you, the better and easier it is.

Sounds like a good plan. I started out in engineering but changed majors to something that makes much less money. 3 years of that and I thought I was doing OK, then I got married.

well there's good links to Denmark in south east England it's only an hour from London Gatwick to Copenhagen from $40 in quiet periods. don't move to London though as it's expensive.

the money sucks major balls right now, but I'm looking to change companies, I want to go to Ricardo (probably most famous for the gearboxes in the Veyron and Ford GT but they do much more) whose World HQ is within walking distance of my house, because it's car based which is what I studied as opposed to the special purpose machinery I'm designing at present.

the north is cheaper but there's a reason, it's a nice place but there's not as many jobs, towns are far apart and there's something called the north-south divide in the UK, an imaginary line drawn across the UK, the south is more affluent with more career opportunities, wealth and a higher quality of life but is generally more expensive to live in. that said small districts on the outskirts of cities in the south are cheaper to live in.

I know man, I know people who have rushed into marriage even younger and it didn't work out. But in my case I have known her since birth, we got together at 16 after many years of denying to myself that I loved her, we've been on many vacations together, proved we can live together, we rarely fight. I mean I can't predict the future but I got a chance of a lasting marriage I say.

thanks man, It's gonna at least a couple of years before we think about it. I'm in an insecure job that I'm not particularly happy doing so I need to change jobs first and build up savings whilst paying off student loans. Thankfully she respects that.
